Rootiva Garden is a small editorial project. We do not run advertising on most pages. We do not accept paid posts. The journal is supported in part by a modest amount of affiliate revenue, which we earn when a reader clicks an affiliate link and goes on to buy something from a third-party retailer. This page explains how those links work.
What is an affiliate link
An affiliate link is a tracked URL that pays the site a small commission if a purchase is made through it. The product price is identical to what you would pay if you visited the retailer directly. Affiliate income does not influence which products we cover or what we say about them.
Which retailers we work with
We currently participate in the affiliate programmes of a small number of third-party retailers, including independent bookshops, garden seed cooperatives, and a small selection of tool manufacturers we have used and trust. The list is short, and it changes rarely. We do not participate in marketplace programmes that allow unverified third-party sellers.
How to recognise an affiliate link
Where a guide contains affiliate links, you will see a short disclosure note near the top of the article. Individual product links will be styled in our usual link colour and will open in a new tab.
Our editorial commitment
Affiliate income never decides what we cover or how. The editor reserves the right to remove an affiliate partner at any time if their product quality or business practice shifts. We have done this before. If a recommended product is later discontinued or changes ownership, we update the article.
Questions
If you have a concern about a specific link on the site or want to know whether something is an affiliate link, write to contact and we will explain in plain English.
Thank you
Reader purchases through affiliate links are one of the things that keep this site running without advertising clutter or paywalls. We do not take it for granted.
